Before, cookbooks or magazines were the most common resources for recipes or food ideas for parties, special occasions and even on a daily basis.
But now people are bringing their devices like ipad, tablets, kindle or mobile phones to the kitchen as a partner in cooking. They get ideas and the help they need on what to prepare, how to prepare it and on certain ingredients or even brands to help you meet your cooking goals.
The same goes with books compared to websites where you can browse the recipes by category. Some websites publish recipes from several cooking magazines. The best thing about cooking or recipe websites is when you search for help you can look from broad to specific topics like dinner ideas, healthy recipes, slow cooker recipes or different ways to cook eggs and find it right away. You can also find food kitchen hacks to make the cooking easier and more fun.
- Websites. Just google “recipes” or specific recipe types and you’ll find loads of websites with different version of recipes. Or simply go to http://foodfans.net, where you can find recipes by category or by searching tags. You can even register as a member so you can post your favorite recipes and at the same time you can share and chat with other members “live” too.
Some food websites have forums where members can share ideas and tips in cooking. Most forums are arranged by categories so it is easier to find the food recipes or kitchen help that you want. In case you can’t find the recipe you like, you can ask in the forum, and members will reply if they know or have ideas or suggestions.
Nowadays, Youtube is a favorite when someone is looking for cooking videos. You can watch the videos step by step while you are cooking if you are not able to follow a written recipe. You can even watch how a chef pinches salt, or hacks on how to slice vegetables and fruits. You can “pause” and “play” while you are cooking, or watch it over and over again many times.
- Food Blogs
There are loads of bloggers that share different recipes on their blogs. You can look for Asian, Mexican, Italian foods, or whatever you like. This means you can taste any cuisine you dream of without having to travel as well. There are even food reviews from the restaurants they go to. In case you want to try different types of cuisine.
- Social Media
According to BuzzFeed Food co-creative director Emily Fleischaker published in Digiday ““Food is an easy thing for people to bond over on social media no matter if they know each other really well or only know each other a little, if they’re constantly in touch or have been out of touch for a while. It’s a lighthearted topic, it’s not too serious or overtly political (most of the time),”
But the most popular social media sites to get your food ideas from is Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram.
Facebook – Facebook users post their pictures and videos of what they cook, some including the recipes. One can find a lot of choices too, from main courses, desserts or even the no bake dessert ideas.
Pinterest is known as a catalog of ideas, including food ideas. They have loads of photos of tasty foods and recipes. You can choose from breakfast, lunch or dinner ideas or you choice of chicken, meat, cakes, and salad recipes.
Instagram – Same as Facebook and Pinterest, users of Instagram post photos of food they prepare by pictures or short videos. They even post photos of food they order in restaurants sometimes.
What about you? Where do you find most of your recipes? Do you love food? Do you cook and take photos? You can share them here on FoodFans.net and meet other members too… and even chat with them live!
